My name is Tom, and I am eleven. My grandma Rina lives in
a village near the sea. Behind her house, there is a big
vegetable garden. She works in the garden every morning, from
seven o'clock to ten o'clock.
In the garden, there are tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots and
peppers. There are also two lemon trees. The tomatoes are red
and sweet. The carrots are long and orange. Grandma does not
buy vegetables at the shop. She eats vegetables from her
garden every day.
I visit Grandma every Friday, and I help her in the
garden. I give water to the plants, and I pick the tomatoes.
Grandma's dog, Max, likes to dig holes in the garden. Grandma
is not happy about that!
After our work, we sit under a lemon tree. Grandma makes a
big salad for lunch, and we eat it together. She always says,
"Vegetables from your own garden taste better." Next year, I
want to have a small garden at home, too.
